Preventive Care

Preventive dentistry is an essential aspect of dental care that improves a patient’s overall well-being by promoting oral health and preventing dental problems before they occur. These essential services include dental cleanings, fluoride application, non-invasive treatments, and oral health education to help patients maintain healthy teeth and gums. By prioritizing prevention, we strive to help patients avoid more serious dental issues and maintain good oral health in the long term.

Dental Exams:

Each patient starts out with a visit from one of our trusted Doctors. This comprehensive oral exam includes full-mouth X Rays and an extensive evaluation of the patient’s oral health. It is from this point that a personalized treatment plan is established and follow-up visits scheduled.

Routine Cleaning:
Oral hygiene can be difficult to maintain over time due to individual circumstances, and our team of Registered Dental Hygienists is here to help. Our preventive care model focuses on increasing the number of touchpoints with a Hygienist to deliver more frequent cleanings, oral cancer screenings, denture maintenance, and soft tissue management.
Silver Diamine Fluoride (SDF):
A beneficial preventive measure in addressing tooth decay that does not require drilling or anesthesia. SDF is a liquid solution applied directly to the decayed tooth to treat and prevent further spreading of a cavity. This approach is highly effective in caring for patients with complex medical needs who may not be able to tolerate invasive procedures or have limited access to dental care.

Restorative Treatment

Restorative dentistry focuses on repairing or replacing damaged or missing teeth to restore function and aesthetics. It includes a range of procedures, including fillings, crowns, periodontal treatment, and dentures. Restoring the oral dentition helps patients regain their ability to eat, speak, and smile, free of pain and infection. Confidence in one’s smile can significantly improve their quality of life. Additionally, restorative dentistry performed in a timely manner can help prevent further damage or decay from turning into more costly and difficult dental procedures.

Periodontal Therapy:
Scaling and Root Planing (SRP), also called a deep cleaning, is required for patients that either have or are at risk of developing gum and jaw bone disease. This procedure is performed by a Hygienist and involves minimally invasive techniques to get rid of plaque, tartar, and bacteria below the gum line. Each step with this deep cleaning is completed to ensure healthy gums and prevent tooth loss.
Fillings:
A key goal of ours is to restore and maintain the functionality of our patients’ teeth. We are able to surgically achieve this by removing the decayed portion of the tooth and filling it with replacement material. This step prevents further damage and is durable enough to protect the tooth for years to come.
Crowns:
Dental crowns are an important restorative dentistry option that can help preserve natural teeth and prevent the need for more invasive dental procedures, such as extractions. These tooth-shaped caps are placed over damaged or decayed teeth to restore their shape, size, strength, and appearance. This ultimately helps to protect the tooth, while preventing further decay and enhancing its overall aesthetic appearance.
Bridges:
An option for patients needing to replace one or more missing teeth is to receive a dental bridge. This restorative procedure fills the gap with a fixed replacement tooth, restoring the function and appearance of the patient’s smile. In addition to improving the patient’s ability to eat and speak, dental bridges can also prevent the remaining teeth from shifting out of place.
Extractions:
We understand that having a tooth extracted can be an intimidating experience, and our dental team is here to create a safe and caring environment. Extractions are often necessary due to irreparable tooth damage caused by decay, periodontal disease, or trauma to the tooth. We coordinate closely with each patient’s care team to review past medical history and quickly recover post-surgery.
Dentures:
Dentures are prostheses for replacing a patient’s missing teeth. Each set, or arch, is fabricated under the supervision of our Dentist and local lab. Over the course of multiple visits, we tailor each denture to the patient’s unique needs, ensuring a comfortable and natural-looking fit.
